Agricola Baptist Church has been led to build a home for a widow who lost her home on April 15, 2011 to a tornado.  Ms. May Jewel Helton was in her home of 62 years with her critically sick husband, son, grand-son, grand-daughter and two great-grand-daughters when a tornado ripped her house apart.  Her son, Dean, had to jump on the hospital bed that his father was in to hold him down as the storm passed by.  The grand-daughters were in the bath tub praying with pillows over their heads.  Ms. May Jewel and her husband were both injured.  She was struck in the head by some debris from her home and her husband sustained a leg fracture.  Everyone else walked away untouched. Mr. Helton died about three weeks later from other health issues, but certainly watching his home of 62 years disintegrate around him caused much stress and anxiety.  Agricola has determined through prayer and conversations with the family that we are to help Ms. Helton rebuild and get her back into her home.  We started this project with no funds, only faith that God can accomplish this job.  God has shown His love and compassion for Ms. Helton and we are confident in His ability to make all things new.

How you can help:

Pray:  Nothing is more important than you interceding on our behalf and petitioning to God for Ms. Helton.  He will hear the prayers of His people.  Pray specifically that He would provide and that He would be glorified.

Donate:  We will need money to build this house.  Our first donation came from a widowed lady in Biloxi who lost her home in Hurricane Katrina.  She had no means to rebuild her home either, but God displayed His love for her as well and she has been restored.  We will work on her faith and watch ours increase as God provides for Ms. Helton. Please consider a contribution to this project.  We have an online giving option on our home page.  This option will allow you to give and specify your gifts to this project.  All donations are tax deductible.

Volunteer:  There will be opportunities for you to participate in the actual labor of building this house.  At certain stages we will have work days in which you can come and lend a hand.  Our project coordinator, Mr. Richard Lacy,  is actively planning out the schedule of the work.  Stay tuned to the church calendar to be updated on when you can help.  If you have specialized and specific skills in a house-building trade and would like to help, please contact our church office.
